Party for Polar Bears

"Party for Polar Bears!" was founded in 2015 by (now retired) polar bear keeper, Cindy Roberts after she was chosen to attend the 2015 Climate Alliance with Polar Bears International in Churchill, Manitoba - the polar bear capital of the world! She was so inspired by the expedition, and concerned about the future of polar bears, that she wanted to support the great work Polar Bears International does for arctic conservation.

Cindy took her passion for polar bears and partnered with Point Defiance AAZK and Drinking for Conservation to organize“Party for Polar Bears!” This is an annual event that has turned into one of our biggest conservation fundraisers! Party for Polar Bears takes place around International Polar Bear Day on February 27th of each year. Over the last eight years we’ve raised over $43,000 to support polar bear conservation!

Each Party for Polar Bears includes a partnership with a local bar or brewery who hosts the event, as well has an online auction. We couldn’t do it without them or our other community partners!

Cindy returned to Churchill, Manitoba as a Field Ambassador with Polar Bears International in 2019 and 2022. In October of 2022, Cindy was awarded the Nico van Strien Leadership In Conservation award for her efforts with the annual fundraiser and polar bear conservation!
